Signing into a new or replacement laptop
Last Updated 5 years ago
Sign in to Windows
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to get to the login screen.
- The login screen remembers the last user of the laptop. Because this wasn't you, you'll need to choose Other user in the lower left corner of the screen.
- Enter your username without "@eccss.org" at the end. Press tab or click with the mouse to get into the password field. Then enter your password and press the Enter key or click the → at the right end of the password field to login.
- Windows will take a while to do first-time setup and log you in. This may take from thirty seconds to a couple minutes.
Sign into Chrome
- Open Chrome. You can find a shortcut on your desktop or in your Start menu. You need to double-click the desktop shortcut, but you only need to single-click the Start menu shortcut.
- When it opens up, you'll be at a page that says Make Chrome your own. On this page do not click the big blue Get Started button. Do click the blue text under that which reads Already a Chrome user? Sign in.
- Sign in with your email address and password. You'll also need the device you use for two step verification to complete the sign-in step.
- After you sign in successfully, you will see a dialog box reading Link your Chrome data to this account? at the top. Because you've just signed in, you can just go ahead and click the Link Data button.
