Frequently Asked Question

File Explorer says my G: drive isn't available.
Last Updated 7 years ago

Look down at the notification area. If you don't see the square, white Google Drive File Stream icon, it means GDFS isn't running. We've seen it fail to start up once or twice for people.

Open the Start menu, then open Drive File Stream from your applications. This should solve the issue. (You can just open the Start menu using the Windows key or by clicking on it, then start typing "Drive File Stream" to locate the application easily.)

If this doesn't resolve the issue, or if you have issues with GDFS starting, I would reboot and try opening it again from the Start menu after you log back in (if it doesn't start up on its own). If you're still having issues after this, please reopen this ticket and let us know.
