PowerPoint Presenter View
In Office 2013, when you open a PowerPoint presentation in slideshow mode, it automatically goes into a presenter view. This means that it sets the computer to extend the display (show a different thing on each display), rather than mirroring (showing the same on both). Unfortunately, when you exit the presentation, it doesn't have the courtesy to switch back to mirroring, if that's what you previously had set.
You can press Windows + P to bring up the display mode selector. Continuing to hold the Windows key and pressing P again will switch between options. Pausing on one selection will choose that option and switch to it. (You can also use the arrow keys to navigate, or select an option by clicking with the mouse.)
Permanently Disabling Presenter View
You can also disable Presenter View, if you'd like, which will cause PowerPoint to just show the same thing on both screens. To do this, open PowerPoint, go to the Slide Show tab (1), and uncheck the box next to Use Presenter View (2). If you ever want to re-enable Presenter View, you can just recheck this same box:
